The building owner’s vision was to create a “hotel of the 21st century”. The result is a five-star hotel, which has become a top-rate destination also for architecture and design tourists. From afar the building attracts attention with the silver shimmer of its aluminium and glass facade. The entire building, with its dynamic curving design, devotes itself to the surrounding landscape of the Rhine and Siebengebirge mountains. From the sixth to third floors, the building plummets towards the Rhine. In doing so, spacious roof terraces could be integrated into each of these floors as well as an outdoor pool on the third level, which also affords a view onto the Rhine.
Architect Karl-Heinz Schommer designed a building which fits in perfectly with its surroundings. The airiness of the building is on the one hand the result of its aspiring, arcuate form.
