“BRITISH NORMANDY MEMORIAL”: WORK IN PROGRESS

The Normandy Memorial Trust was founded in 2016, in the aim of fulfilling the Normandy veterans’ dream of having a Memorial in memory of the more than 22,000 soldiers who lost their lives, under British command during the famous D-Day (June 6, 1944) , the day of the landing which paved the way for the liberation of Europe and the end of the Second World War.

The Memorial was designed by the architect Liam O’Connor, creator of the Bomber Command Memorial in Green Park/London furthermore, as well as of the Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Stattfordshire.

The Memorial stands on an imposing site overlooking “Golden Beach”, one of the main beaches where British forces landed, the names of all those who died between 6 June and 31 August 1944, will be engraved on the colonnade; this is when with Paris liberated, the Normandy campaign officially ended.

The tens of thousands of French citizens who lost their lives in those terrible days, will also be honoured.

Odorizzi Soluzioni in pietra company, had the honour of being chosen by supply and installation of all the porphyry floors in this magnificent work.

The design includes installation of Trentino Porphyry cobbles in overlapping arches,

set in Delgorsa® natural surface tiles, which define the perimeter and the geometric module with columns.
